Backstory: Nichole comes from a prestigious family. Her mother is a politician's daughter from New Mexico, and her father was a Navy SEAL before he retired to Seattle; he was a lifer, after all. Raised to keep her emotions in check and to always be a proper lady, Nichole learned at an early age that strength lies in stoicism, not emotionality. She excelled in school and was dual-enrolled so that, when she graduated valedictorian of her high school at eighteen, she also had her Associate's Degree in general studies through Brown University.
Next was a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in business management, also at Brown; Granddad Blorn wanted to send her to Oxford, but Nichole wasn't ready to leave the country yet, and was able to talk him into letting her stay at Brown, instead. Finally was her Juris Doctor at Harvard School of Law. She graduated with honors at twenty-three, and almost immediately went to work at a very small law firm, where she worked a high-profile case as the lead defense attorney (completely unexpectedly, of course; it fell into her lap when the attorney it would normally have gone to was on sabbatical) during her two years of employment, along with a variety of others that she aided in, before finally joining the CIA as an administrator of public affairs. She developed a very close relationship withmaugrimm during her time there, but when he was burned four years later, that aspect of their involvement came to an amiable close. However, she continued to assist him as much as she could despite him being a fugitive for another two years before she was forced to leave the Central Intelligence Agency; her options were to resign with a nondisclosure agreement under threat of legal action for treason and aiding and abetting a known fugitive, or be arrested and taken to some prison in the desert where there would be no due process, no habeas corpus, no trial, and no sunlight. She would have rotted for the rest of her life in a literal hole in the ground.
Nichole left with her head held high, and moved home to Washington, since the doors were locked tighter than the Pentagon behind her at Langley. Within two years, she was actively involved in the Washington political atmosphere, and she began her campaign shortly thereafter. In 2004, she joined the State House of Representatives. Her run was fairly successful, but not without a price; in exchange for Grimm's elimination of the CIA's red flags on her movement during her first year in office, she joined Narnia at the conclusion of her term, shortly after her birthday.
Personality: Because of her upbringing, Nichole is fairly aloof, and she's consistently stoic. Her emotions stay tightly in check beneath a mask of calm pleasantry because she was raised to believe that emotionality is weakness. Easily thought to be a bitch, she is unyielding and refuses to back down from what she believes in, and while she can be cold, she does have concern and compassion for others. That doesn't mean, however, that she isn't fairly playful and trollish at times.
Nichole is not above a game of Hearts with a mojito at hand; she enjoys relaxing a little bit with people she can stand to spend time with outside of work. It's good to have hobbies, and whatnot. Keeps her from overworking herself and grinding herself into a rut. With Grimm in a state of such unrest, she can't afford to be anything less than her best right now, particularly with the recent news report about the organization.
Overall, she holds her family near and dear to her heart. They might be a little wonky, but they're hers and they made her who she is, which is nothing to sneeze at. She does like herself, after all.
Reason for joining?: Deals were made and honored. Maugrim cleared her through Grimm. It was all very neat and efficient. She's been around for six years, but due to the job is frequently on the move, home for six months or so at a time before leaving again. After the ordeal with March's death, she was called home so that everyone could be in the area to mourn as well as deal with the inevitable shitstorm that blew up shortly thereafter.
